The Plymouth Rock is a very well known breed from Massachusetts. They are friendly, intelligent, cold hardy, dual-purpose birds that lay brown eggs. It is the most popular breed in the Unites States. They appear in Barred, Black, Blue, Buff, Columbian, Partridge, Silver Penciled, and White. Crosses of the white Plymouth Rock and the Cornish are used in meat production. They were first developed in the 1860s by D. A. Upham in Worcester, Massachusetts.
