Chickens can be fed almost any scraps, both meat and vegetable. (See this list of plants toxic to chickens)
Depending on the chickens' age and purpose, different feeds can be purchased.
Water[]
Chickens need a source of water at all times.
Chicken keepers can use any of the following to provide water for their flock:
- Nipple waterers
- Open troughs or bowls of water
Shelter[]
Most chickens live in a coop or chicken tractor. Generally, the guideline is for chickens to have at least 4 square feet per bird inside the coop, and 10 square feet per bird outside.
